DXUP FM Finalist for Titus Brandsma Award
The Titus Brandsma Award-Philippines is the country’s version tto the international Titus Brandsma Award given by the Union Catholique Internationale de la Presse (USIP), the World Power of Professional in secular and religious media. This Award was named in honor of Blessed Titus Brandsma, a journalist, educator and a Carmelite priest who defended press freedom and freedom to education, even on the face of death.
DXUP FM 105.5 MHz is nominated by Mrs. Myrna B. Lim, chairperson of the Notre Dame Foundation for Charitable Activities, Incorporated-Women in Enterprise Development from among the fifteen (15) community Peace Radio Stations, its helped established in conflict-ridden areas in Mindanao, for the main purpose of uniting people of different culture, tradition and faith thru community radio.
DXUP FM 105.5 MHz is owned and managed by the Community Media and Education Council (CMEC) which is composed of representatives from the different sectors of the community acting as a policy-making body and it is run and operated by volunteers broadcaster and technicians under station manger Mr. Mario G. Debolgado.
For this season Award will be given to two Model Communities and Special Award for Community Media ( newspaper, radio and TV Station/program) who took the initiatives to connect with the communities their services by way of partnership and linkages. DXUP FM 105.5 MHz hopes to get this second kind of award.

A member of the jury, Brother Arnold Alindaya, deputy director of the Titus Brandsma Center and Miss Bituin Quintos, coordinator was accompanied by Mr Eric Matias, the implementing program director of NDFCAI-WED, in visiting DXUP FM 105.5 Mhz on November 4, 2006 for their ocular and on-site validation and documentation en route to a final judgment for this season’s award.
The five finalist were Barangay Balara in Quezon City; Zoto in Tondo Manila, Panimalay in Kauswagan in Iloilo City; Maramag in Bukidnon and DXUP FM in Upi, Maguindanao.
